DISTRIBUTION: 6,000 copies printed, distributed to newcomers, local realtors, economic development agencies and prospective business/industry.
Special Events
Chamber Golf Tournaments
"Spring Classic" - 2nd or 3rd Saturday in April.
Captain's Choice foursomes. Approx. 26 teams.
COST: Hole sponsor: $55 single or $100 exclusive
Sponsors receive placard placed at tee bearing company name, name listing on poster at tournament scoreboard, and mention in newsletter. Single sponsor: Placard placed at tee or green area; Exclusive sponsor: Two placards – one at tee area, one at green; no other sponsor placards on exclusive holes.
Chamber Dinner/Dance/Auction
3rd or 4th Saturday in Sept.
The premier annual chamber event. Catered dinner, live band/dancing and charity auction.
ITEM: Auction items, typically locally-manufactured products, retail items, art/craft works, professional or catered services and recreation packages.
Auction item contributors receive placard at item to denote donor and listing in auction catalog.
"Goody Bags"
1. New Teacher Welcome Packets – provided each summer for newly-hired faculty
2. Periodic group visits:
Occasionally the chamber is asked to provide souvenirs to groups which spend time in McDowell County, e.g., through local agencies' conferences/workshops, RV "rally" clubs, and other events which generate economic activity for McDowell County.
ITEM: Company premiums and promotional items (e.g., pencils, cups, etc.), complimentary meals, and similar low-cost products or services.
Business After Hours -
Quarterly*, 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.
Networking for chamber members. Attendance: 75-125
COST: $600-1,200 range (co-sponsorships reduce per-sponsor cost)
Services provided to sponsors: mailing of event notice to entire membership, mention in chamber newsletter, placard at entrance to the event, and spot on program for welcoming remarks & brief description of sponsor's business.
*The "After Hours" held in early June is New Member Reception for welcoming new members at conclusion of membership drive in May.
Display Items - Membership benefit:
Members may place (at no cost) brochures, flyers, coupons and business cards in the lobby area of the Chamber Visitor Center.
Committees
Members are invited to participate in the work of the Chamber by serving on a committee or task force ... a good opportunity to promote your business to the Chamber membership and the community at large while also helping to accomplish the Chamber's objectives. (See sponsorship form)
